Event Information & FAQs

We are thrilled you are planning to join us for the 4th annual Jennifer Bush-Lawson 5K & Family Fun Day. Your participation helps fund access to maternal and infant care for economically vulnerable mothers and newborns through our beneficiary, Virginia Hospital Center.

Below is information to help you make the most of your time at the 5K & Family Fun Day!

How can I register? Registration is now open online.

Do I need to run in the 5K to participate? No, you can sign up for just the certified 5K, register only for the Family Fun Day festival, or get a combo package for both the 5K & Family Fun Day for an even better deal. Spectators are also welcome to join us for free and cheer on the runners and Fun Day participants! But if you plan to participate in any activities, we do ask that you register; registration is now open online and will also be available onsite at the 5K & Family Fun Day.

What does the Fun Day include? Fun Day wristbands provide unlimited access to the following Family Fun Day activities: Kids’ Fun Run, face painting, balloon animals, moon bounces, rock climbing wall, laser tag, DJ, community performances, silent auction and more! Adults also have access to a beer garden. A map of Fun Day activities is available here.

Do you offer Early Bird pricing? Yes! Discounted early bird pricing is available online until Sept. 15, 2018, saving you up to $5 per person.

How are funds raised by JB-LF used? Through the generous support of our community, we’ve been able to fill a number of needs at Virginia Hospital Center, including supporting a two-year telemedicine pilot program at Virginia Hospital Center’s Outpatient Clinic that is removing barriers to care; subsidizing transportation for low-income mothers so that they don’t miss critical prenatal appointments; and providing new pack-and-plays to families in need so their newborns have a safe place to sleep. Read more about the impact of JB-LF and this charity race here.

Is my registration fee tax deductible? Due to the goods and services received with your registration, that fee is not tax deductible. However, any donation made above the registration fee is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
