Karen King, Advisory Board Member Karen is a native of New York. She graduated from nursing school over 30 years ago and has spent almost her entire career working in Maternal Child Health. After her youngest son was out of elementary school she returned to school in pursuit of her degree as a Nurse Midwife.
Karen joined Dr. Rossi in practice over 13 years ago and Dr. Crowther shortly after. She has helped over 1000 babies into the world. One of the things she enjoys most is getting to know well the families she takes care of and being present at the birth of many of their children.
Karen has a special interest in adolescent health care, breastfeeding problems and helping couples who are interested in non-medicated birth and midwifery-attended births.
Karen is very active in The American College of Nurse Midwives, serving as Chair of the HIT section, past member of the government affairs section, and she has presented at multiple meetings. She is past president of the Virginia Chapter of ACNM. She also has volunteered at the Arlington free clinic and currently serves as a Advisory Board Member for Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation. Often Nurse Midwife and Nurse Practitioner students will be at the office under her guidance.
In addition to her work she enjoys knitting, cooking, and traveling. Bob is her very supportive husband of over 30 years, and she has three grown sons.
