We are thrilled you are planning to join us for the 3rd annual Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation 5K & Family Fun Day. Your participation helps fund access to maternal and pediatric healthcare and support for economically vulnerable mothers and babies through our primary beneficiaries: Virginia Hospital Center and Arlington Pediatric Center.

Below is information to help you make the most of your time at the 5K & Family Fun Day!

How can I register? Online registration is now closed. In-person registrations are available at our race packet pick-up locations on Thursday, Nov. 16, Friday, November 17, and on Saturday morning, November 18. Fun Day wristbands are also available in-person at race packet pick-up or on-site all morning long at the event.

Do I need to run in the 5K to participate? No, you don’t have to run to join the fun! Every 5K race bib provides access to the Fun Day activities — or you can simply purchase a Fun Day wristband, if you choose not to run. The race bibs and wristbands provide unlimited access to the following Family Fun Day activities: Kids’ Fun Run, face painting, balloon animals, moon bounces, obstacle course, rock climbing wall, inline jumper, human hungry hippo, corn hole, DJ, live music from Gutterball Kingpin, and community performances. Adult wristbands provide access to a beer garden as well.

There will also be food trucks selling donuts and lunch (with a percentage of proceeds being donated to JB-LF), a make-your-own-stuffed-animal workshop for purchase, and a silent auction with items that include a signed Capitals hockey stick, 2nd row seats at a Wizards game, a BBQ bash for 20, a case of wine, a fitness membership, restaurant gift certificates and more.

Where and when can I pick up my race packet? Race packet pick-up and registration is available on the following dates and locations:

Email confirmation is required for packet pick-up, and you may pick up packets for others as long as you have a copy of their race confirmation. All 5K and Fun Day registrants will receive a complimentary t-shirt while supplies last. Parking at the Knights of Columbus will be free during packet pick-up on Friday.

Fun Day wristbands are also available for purchase at all race packet pickup locations and all morning long at the event.

Where does the 5K & Family Fun Day take place? 
Knights of Columbus (KOC) – Map
5115 Little Falls Road
Arlington, VA

The Knights of Columbus is located in a suburban neighborhood in North Arlington, accessible by car or Metrobus 23. The 5K race and Kids’ Fun Run start and finish on site.

When does the 5K start? The 5K race starts at 9am. Please plan to arrive by 8:30am for pre-race festivities including a welcome and fun warm up from Cordaro Fit. We’ll also have post-race stretching available from Phoenix Fitness.

Is the 5K certified? Yes! The race is timed and the course is USATF certified. You can find the race map here.

Do you allow strollers on the 5K course? Strollers are welcome on the course and will start in the last wave.

If your child is a bit too old to accompany you in a stroller, there’s also an option to register them for childcare during the 5K, provided by EverWonder Camps. Every childcare registration also comes with a youth Fun Day wristband, so once you’re off the course, you and your child can enjoy the Fun Day activities until 1pm. To sign up for the childcare option, you can register in-person at race packet pickup.

We love animals, but absolutely NO DOGS ALLOWED on the premises.

When does the Kids’ Fun Run start? The Kids’ Fun Run will begin after the 5K course is cleared, likely around 10:15-10:30am, and will have 3 waves:

  • 3-5 year olds (1/10 mile) – Map
  • 6-8 year olds (1/3 mile) – Map
  • 9-11 year olds (1/3 mile) – Map

Where can I park at the 5K & Family Fun Day? Limited, on-site VIP parking is available for Saturday, November 18, for $20. Handicap parking passes park free. Note that the entrance to VIP Parking will be closed from 8:50am to 9:05am for the 5K start and again from 10:30am-11:00am for the Kids’ Fun Run.

Free street parking is available near the Knights of Columbus, but may be limited due to the race course. Roads in and around the Knights of Columbus will also be closed for brief periods during the 5K. For more information about road closures during the 5K, click here.

Additional parking is available at local schools located a short walking distance from Knights of Columbus.

Park and walk. Cross Yorktown Blvd and walk down 30th St N. Left on N Florida St. Cross Little Falls Road and go to the entrance of KOC on Little Falls Road.

Park and walk. Turn left to walk down 36th St N. Right on N Harrison St. Left on 32nd St N. Left on Little Falls Road. Entrance to KOC will be on your left.

Can I get to the 5K by public transportation? Yes! Metrobus 23 stops approximately 0.4 miles away at Old Dominion Dr & Little Falls Rd. To determine the best public transportation route, we recommend consulting Metro’s Trip Planner.

What is the schedule of events? Our morning will kick off with our 5K, followed by our kids’ fun run. We’ll also have a number of community performances, and of course, our Fun Day activities running from 9am-1pm. More information on our schedule is available here.

What happens if it rains? Our event will take place rain or shine!

Can I get a refund for my registrations? Entry fees for our charity event are nonrefundable.

How are funds raised by JB-LF used? Through the generous support of our community, we’ve been able to fill a number of needs at Virginia Hospital Center and the Arlington Pediatric Center, including 12 months of wellness care for 240 newborns, pack-n-plays so babies have safe places to sleep, blood pressure cuffs for expectant women, and a telemedicine project targeting high-risk pregnancies. Can I bring my dog? We love animals, but please leave your dogs at home. No dogs allowed on the premises.
